"Very moist and fruity, these bars go great with coffee"
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
10oz. jar of E. Waldo Ward's Sweet Orange Marmalade
2 In a large mixing bowl, cream the shortening with the sugar, vanilla, and almond extract. Stir in the egg and mix until well blended.
3 In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Add to the first mixture and mix well.
4 Spread half of the dough into the pan. Cover with a layer of E. Waldo Ward's Sweet Orange Marmalade.
5 Pour the remaining dough over the top and bake for 25 minutes. Let cool before cutting into bars.
Makes 1 dozen
